Assemblyman
William A. Barclay serves as Co-Chairman of the Republican Assembly
Campaign Committee. Mr. Barclay brings a great deal of expertise,
leadership and vision to the post, which he assumed in early January
of this year. Proudly representing the 124th Assembly
District, Mr. Barclay is the eighth generation of his family living
in Pulaski, Oswego County.
As a life-long
resident of Central New York, Mr. Barclay is familiar with the
issues the region faces. As such, he has long championed many
initiatives aimed at reducing burdensome taxes and creating jobs to
build a stronger future for the area's young people.
Mr. Barclay brings many ideas and fresh perspective to the
Conference.
As a successful attorney and a businessman, he is a partner of the
law firm Hiscock and Barclay, specializing in business law. Since
his election to the Assembly in 2002, Mr. Barclay has continually
fought to lower taxes and championed the successful expansion of
programs like the School Tax Relief (STAR) program, which has helped
ease the property tax burden felt by homeowners across the state.
Will Barclay knows that New York's future lies with creating a solid
foundation today to provide the best education possible for our
children and reform egregious laws that have forced manufacturing
and well-paying employers from our state. His top priorities
continue to be providing adequate support for our schools and
creating jobs in upstate New York to keep our young people here.
An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Barclay has a deep appreciation for outdoor
sports. Recognizing this, he has been chosen to be Chairman of the
Hunting and Fishing Taskforce, which tours the state listening to
sports enthusiasts in an effort to enhance and protect New York's
oldest and most popular natural resource: the outdoors.
Mr. Barclay is a graduate of St. Lawrence University and Syracuse
University College of Law. He serves his community as a member of
the board of directors for the Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo
in
Syracuse, the Everson Museum of Art, and Northern Oswego
County Health Services.
Will lives with
his wife, Margaret and their two boys, Harry and George.
