Overview of the Republican Assembly Campaign Committee
RACC is a political committee devoted to increasing the 42-member Republican Conference in the New York State Assembly. RACC supports the election of Republicans to the State Assembly through: direct financial contributions to candidates and to Republican Party organizations; technical and research assistance to Republican candidates and Party organizations; voter registration, education and turnout programs; and other Party-building activities.
RACC Funding
While the primary sources of funding for the Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee (DACC) are unions, trial lawyers and special interest groups -- RACC relies most heavily on individuals from all walks of life who contribute $25, $50 or $100 per year. For information on becoming a contributor to RACC, click on the "Contribute" button.
RACC Leadership
RACC is managed by its co-chairmen, Assemblymen Will Barclay and Robert Oaks, Republican Leader Jim Tedisco and the five other appointed leaders of the Republican Conference.
RACC Investment Strategy
RACC management views campaigns as a business. We only invest in sound campaigns that have a shot of victory. We use a business-like metrics approach with campaigns we invest in. We maintain benchmarks for the campaign to meet if they are to continue to receive operational and financial support. We don't believe it is good policy to invest your hard earned money into a campaign that is not disciplined or that has no shot of victory.
RACC Record
Jim Tedisco, Assembly Republican Leader and former RACC Chairman Brian Kolb, with the assistance of a great team of Assembly Republicans -- raised $2.4 million for special and general elections in 2006. The result was positive. RACC beat the heavily funded Democrat campaign in four of four special elections. In the fall, RACC was the only Republican Conference in New York that did not lose an incumbent (Congressional Republicans lost two incumbents and the State Senate GOP lost one incumbent) under extremely bad political conditions.... and being outspent 3-1 by DACC and other special interest groups.
